Odessa

Dr. Solomon has been at the forefront of women’s mental healthcare and contributed locally and nationally to thinking differently about how we can meet the complex emotional, social, and relational needs of women.

Dr. Solomon began her professional career in the area of eating disorders, where she treated patients, developed new approaches to care, and created systems for care delivery. Her work in the field of eating disorders allowed Dr. Solomon to work at the intersection of the medical and psychological worlds, and she quickly realized that the gaps between them created barriers to healing.

Dr. Solomon established Galia Collaborative in 2018 to create an responsive system of care for women’s mental health. She has advanced her mission of amplifying women’s impact with modern mental health at Galia through a team that provides individual and relationship therapy, corporate programming, and community engagement. Dr. Solomon herself works with individuals, couples, and teams at Galia.

Dr. Solomon founded Odessa to expand Galia’s work and explicitly bring forward the next wave of mental health care to her community. She is committed to the transformative power of integrating our best science, our ancient wisdom, and our human potential.

Dr. Solomon is trained in a variety of modalities that assist in healing from stuck points and expanding our capacity for change, such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Emotion Focused Therapy. She has also been trained in MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD. At Odessa, Dr. Solomon provides Ketamine Assisted Therapy for a variety of conditions. She is proud to bring a feminist lens to her psychedelic and therapeutic work.

Why I Do This Work

As a field, we’ve spent generations of time trying to put band-aids on problems that are not going away. We are suffering with record rates of loneliness, depression, angst, and despair. So many of us can’t put a finger on it, but we know that this can’t be all there is to life. We feel locked in the same patterns, even when we have a lot of awareness of what we’re doing. We just can’t seem to move through it and we feel dissatisfied and incredibly stuck.

As a psychologist, I got tired of applying treatments that could only offer some temporary reprieve. I personally knew, just like my patients, that there had to be something different, something more. Discovering and training in treatments that weren’t about shifting our thoughts or numbing our feelings, but about changing ourselves at a fundamental level, was transformative for me and the way I practice.

The emergence of new ways of working with people and the renaissance of psychedelic treatment has really restored my own excitement for the future of mental health. We finally have more tools to create more lasting and meaningful changes. I value being able to bring my own relational skills and my deep-rooted orientation toward social change to this work as well.
